Today marks the first anniversary of the takeover of Liverpool FC by George Gillett and Tom Hicks.. Liverpool Echo’s Tony Barrett examines the impact the American duo have had on the club over the past 12 months.
Great piece in the Liverpool Echo today, part 2 tomorrow 7th Feb.
Will Hicks and Gillette see sense and do one? I guess they will, if the price is right.
Right Pop Pickers, compare and contrast the amazingly well received new single from David Jordan “Sun Goes Down”
With the Theme to TV magician Paul Daniel’s eighties childrens TV show Wizbit, which can be listened to/downloaded from here
If I was Paul, I’d set Debbie McGee on David Jordans ass for compensation, how dare he! A cad and a bounder sir.
Forums over @ Liverpool Echo warming up with apparent insider information that Hicks has sold his share of Liverpool FC to Dubai International Capitol (DIC).
I hope this is true, certainly Gillet has been conspicuous by his absence, not once have we heard a peep out of the man that originally brought Hicks in as a silent partner, certainly the loudest silent partner I have ever heard. All statements recently concerning the refinancing of the loan originally taken out with RBS to finance the purchase of Liverpool FC, and the new stadium details have come from Hicks.
Hopefully the refinancing was just the yanks way of strengthening their bargaining hand to get a better price for the club than prior to the new deal.
Liverpool got their first victory of 2008 with a 3 – 0 win over Sunderland at Anfield on Saturday. If the behind the scenes situation can be resolved also over the next few days, maybe we will see a semblance of stability at the club for the remainder of a season that may end up a write off. The Premiership is far out of reach, we remain in the FA Cup with a kind draw against Barnsley, and face Inter Milan in the last 16 of the Champions League in the first leg at Anfield on 19th Feb.
Here’s hoping Red Lady’s info is spot on, and we can move on from the Yanky nightmare!
Updates as they occur, all is rumour and conjecture so far (as with the earlier Aimar post)
Maybe I should stay away from the forums and rumour sites, but these days I cling to the slight sniff of a chance that G & H will do one!
